(Northern News Now) - Days after it opened, the controversial “Safe Bay” offering the homeless a place to park and sleep in the Duluth Vineyard Church’s parking lot is now temporarily closed after neighbors filed an appeal. City spokespeople shared the update in a news release Sunday. On May 13, the Duluth Planning Commission approved an interim use permit for an outdoor living site in the church’s parking lot, located on West Arrowhead Road.

    DULUTH, Minn. -- Duluth Police have arrested a man accused of stabbing another man in the neck Thursday afternoon. According to Duluth Police, the stabbing happened in downtown Duluth near Lake Avenue and Superior Street around 12:20 p.m.Shortly after, the suspect, who police have not identified, ran to Canal Park and was arrested near the Cloud 9 restaurant, according to officers on scene. Police on scene say the victim is a man in his mid-20s and has a non-life threatening wound to the neck.
