IntroductionClick to copy section linkSection link copied!Estrogen plays an essential role in the proliferation and differentiation of normal breast tissue and is linked to the development of breast cancer. The main form of estrogen in the cells is 17-β-estradiol (E2). E2 stimulates breast cell proliferation by binding to estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) thereby altering estrogen-responsive gene expression that regulates the cell cycle and apoptosis.

AbstractIpomoeassin F (Ipom-F) is a natural compound with embedded carbohydrates that exhibits a potent cytotoxic effect on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. The mechanism behind this selective potency remains unclear. To elucidate this mechanism, we analyzed the proteome profiles of the TNBC MDA-MB-231 cells after exposure to Ipom-F at different time points and increasing doses using a quantitative proteomic method.
