Although he watched the aftermath of the shooting yesterday from far away, Kraus said, "I was there."Because when someone close to you lives it, it feels like you do too. Kraus graduated from FSU in 2023. His former roommate, Andrew, still goes to school there.

Green may as well be called the "sand cow sculptor" of Tiger Tail Beach. "I've got the eyes done. I'm working on the rest of the head," said Green as he shaped the ears and nose of a sand cow. Green used to work for a large dairy farm back home in Michigan.

Daniel 'Duke' Heller was born to be a marine. "I know when I left for boot camp in '68, my dad said, 'You'll never make that. You'll be home in a week,'" Heller said. He'd prove his dad wrong. "I was determined," Heller said. He fought for 13 months and eight days in the Vietnam War. "Here I am, I'm 19 years old, and I'm, you know, saying who lives and who dies. I thought, 'Man,' you know, 'I think somebody else should be doing this,'" Heller said.
