The future of Tasmania's AFL club may be in doubt as the proposed Macquarie Point stadium is used as a pawn in the state's ongoing political stoush. Round eight is complete and we're over the halfway hump of the Super Netball season. The Sunshine Coast Lightning held on against the Melbourne Mavericks, 67-60, to move up a spot and claim third place. The undefeated NSW Swifts were challenged by defending premiers the Adelaide Thunderbirds in a see-sawing affair, 66-64. We've reached the midway point of the Super Netball season and what a way to celebrate. First Nations Round held across the weekend was a massive hit. That laid the platform for them to clinch all four periods, 82-69, in what was a surprising high-scoring affair between top and bottom of the ladder.

In 2020, there was uproar when Australia became the first country to boldly introduce the innovation inspired by netball's shorter and flashier format — Fast 5. League organisers dropped the bombshell six weeks before the season started.

The umpires seem to be trying to crackdown on backchat in the game, but is this a directive that's been given by the Super Netball league? Or is it a result of a change to World Netball's rules? #SSN2025 https://t.co/Om292G64x4
