There’s a fine line when creating a home that’s on trend but not trendy. A space outfitted with modern comforts and current styles, but that won’t be a glaringly obvious nod to old fads in a decade’s time. Andy and Shawnee Feinour’s new build in Sherwood Forest manages to toe that fine line, and beautifully so. The traditional exterior, with a blend of mid-Atlantic and country architectural influences, gives way to an interior with soothing neutrals and functional spaces designed to be lived in.

Prioritizing art and color were the main imperatives interior designer Susan Bozeman was given when she was hired to craft a new home in the Graydon Buckhead. Bozeman, whose firm outfitted the common areas for the entire Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio-designed building, was a natural choice. Drawn to its lush setting and classic architecture, Jessie and Andrew Somoza decided to start a new chapter in a 1930s-era Georgian Colonial on a hilly, wooded lot in Buckhead. After becoming acquainted with the home’s charms, quirks and outright problems, they hired architect Ross Piper, builder Stuart Grubb and interior designer Sande Beck, who had designed their former home, to help them make it their own. “They wanted it to feel unique and personal,” says Beck.
