Emergency crews are on the scene of a second alarm garage fire at 337 Sapbush Road in Chenango Forks. The call first came in for a garage fire shortly after 5:30 p.m., according to Broome County Fire Wire. Multiple agencies are responding including Broome EMS. A Fox 40 crewmember on scene says flames are no longer visible from the garage. We will provide more information as it becomes available.

The announcement comes from a letter sent home to district families by the superintendent today. The letter reads: "Dear Harpursville Families, We were notified by law enforcement that a district employee was arrested and is facing serious criminal charges.
Windsor Man Facing Charges After Stolen Vehicle Chase

A Windsor man is facing multiple charges after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle through Binghamton, Johnson City, Windsor, and Pennsylvania. Police say on March 30, 2025 at approximately 10:30 p.m., police observed a grey 2021 Mazda CX5 on Harry L Drive in the Village of Johnson City. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of the City of Binghamton. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver took of east through the City of Binghamton.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash Closes Down Portion of I-81

According to Broome County Fire Wire, a fatal motorcycle crash has prompted a closure of I-81 Northbound to all traffic at the Great Bend Exit. The call came in at 4:00 P.M. for a motorcycle crash with serious injuries. According to 511NY, it occurred in the Northbound area of Exit 1. 511Ny says police, EMS ,and the Department of Transportation are all on scene. A detour will be in effect from Great Bend up Route 11 to Exit 1 in Kirkwood.
BCSO Sending Out Warning Over Scam Calls

The Broome County Sheriff's Office is sending out a warning over scam callers impersonating members of law enforcement. The office says the scammers are contacting Broome County residents in an effort to solicit money and gift cards from victims. The office is reminding residents to not provide credit card or other payment information over the phone to anyone claiming to be law enforcement.
Consol's Acquired by Concordia Restaurant

Consol’s Family Kitchen, located at 101 Oak Hill Avenue in the Village of Endicott has now been acquired by the Concordia restaurant, according to a press release shared to Consol's Facebook page. The Concordia Restaurant opened on Odell Avenue in 2023, and has outgrown their current location, and will be relocating to the Consol's location. Owners say the transition is planned to take place over several months.

NYSP Assist SPCA in Removing Animals from New Berlin Farm

New York State Police assisted the Susquehanna SPCA in removing several animals from properties in New Berlin on March 28. Police say the animals were removed from properties on Clark Lane and Pig Farm Lane. Police say the owner of the properties was violating a court order by possessing the animals. Three cows, one sheep, three dogs and 15 cats were removed and transported to the Susquehanna SPCA.
