It's a collaboration of Mosel and Montrachet. Acclaimed German vintner Ernst Loosen of Weingut Dr. Loosen in the Mosel Valley has launched a new wine project in Burgundy. Wines from Perron de Mypont, a boutique négociant business, will debut in June in the United States. Why Burgundy and why now? "I always loved Burgundy," Loosen told Wine Spectator. "I was there [for] the first time in 1985 when I did a stage [or internship] and then slowly this idea grew. Why not?

Close to 1,000 avid wine lovers swirled, sniffed and tasted wines from among the 234 wineries pouring at Wine Spectator’s first stop of the 2025 Grand Tour, held in Chicago at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk on April 26. The Windy City was the first of three stops this year—the tour heads to Washington D.C. on May 2 and Las Vegas on May 10, with each evening offering the chance to taste wines rated 90 points or higher from dozens of regions and grape varieties.

Martine Saunier, who brought the wines of Burgundy's Henri Jayer and Domaine Leroy and Châteauneuf-du-Pape's Château Rayas to America as a trailblazing importer, died Feb. 9 from lung cancer. She was 91. Saunier had an exceptional palate for wine, a clear vision and a fierce determination to follow her own path. For more than 30 years, she imported some of the best estates from Burgundy, Rhône, Champagne and Portugal. She was an inspiration to many in the wine industry, particularly women.

Cincinnati-based attorney Michael L. Cioffi, founder of Monteverdi Tuscany, a luxury boutique resort located in Tuscany's Val d'Orcia region, has acquired Tenuta Valdipiatta in Montepulciano for an undisclosed price, Wine Spectator has learned. The deal includes nearly 75 acres of vines, 5 acres of olive trees and the winery facility and cellar.
