The seasonally adjusted Live Register total for May 2025 was 165,700 people, down by 4,700 people or 2.8% from April 2025. New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that the unadjusted Live Register total stood at 162,269 people for May 2025, of which 56% were male and 71.6% were Irish. The May Live Register includes claims for the new Jobseeker's Pay Related Benefit which was introduced on 31 March for persons who became fully unemployed on or after that date.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is beginning a two-week national inspection campaign focusing on silica dust exposure in construction. The campaign aims to highlight the serious risks associated with exposure to silica dust, which can occur anywhere that concrete, stone, or sand-based materials are being used. According to the HSA, exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust at work can cause silicosis, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other serious diseases.

The ISPCC has announced its participation in a global project to prevent and respond to online child sexual exploitation and abuse. Safe Online, a global fund dedicated to eradicating online child sexual exploitation and abuse, is funding the project called "Sandboxing and Standardising Child Online Redress".

Staff at children's charity Barnardos, who are members of the Fórsa trade union, have served notice of industrial action in a dispute over pay. The workers will engage in a work-to-rule from Wednesday, 25 June. Fórsa has accused Barnardos of failing to fully implement the terms of a 2023 pay agreement, which was brokered at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC). It has also claimed that the charity is refusing to engage with Fórsa on the matter.
