The first matches have been announced for NJPW Resurgence. As teased during Windy City Riot, a NEVER title match between champion Konosuke Takeshita and El Phantasmo is now set for May 9 in Ontario. After Takeshita showed respect to his opponent Hiroshi Tanahashi, he exited the ring but ended up exchanging words with ELP. In backstage comments, ELP brought up their match from last year’s G1 and issued a title challenge.

The final SmackDown before WrestleMania will feature Cody Rhodes. During Raw, it was announced that in addition to John Cena being in Las Vegas this Friday, Rhodes will also be at the T-Mobile Arena. The two are set to headline the second night of WrestleMania this Sunday. Since viciously attacking Rhodes at Elimination Chamber, Cena has done an about face, lashing out at the fans for berating him all these years when he tried everything in his power to win their approval.

Ryan Nemeth’s lawsuit against AEW is moving to arbitration. According to Post Wrestling, Nemeth submitted filings on Friday and Monday to voluntarily dismiss his lawsuit in Los Angeles’ Superior Court. AEW on Monday also dismissed its petition to take the suit into arbitration in the US District Court of Florida. Nemeth’s attorney Mike Caspino issued the following statement to Post Wrestling: “There has been no settlement.

Jeff Cobb is leaving NJPW. New Japan has announced that Cobb will be leaving the promotion, and as a result the IWGP Tag Team titles he currently holds with Callum Newman have been vacated. His final match will be on April 19 at Korakuen Hall when he faces Hiroshi Tanahashi in a singles match. The company wrote the following on their website: “New Japan Pro-Wrestling has come to terms with the departure of Jeff Cobb at his request.
