Sen. Mike Lee has deleted three tweets from his personal @basedmikelee X/Twitter account that mocked the shooting in Minnesota that killed one state lawmaker and her spouse, and left a state Senator and his wife severely injured. Lee was widely condemned after he took to social media to mock the victims and spread misinformation about the alleged shooter.

Spencer Cox endorsed the Republican presidential nominee Friday morning. The abrupt U-turn comes a week after Cox said he would not vote for either Trump or Democrat Joe Biden in the 2024 election. Cox has previously said he did not vote for Trump in 2016 or 2020.

Instead of accepting defeat in the 2024 Republican gubernatorial primary election, Phil Lyman seems to be hanging his fading chances of wresting the party nomination away from Spencer Cox on a long shot allegation that the signatures Cox used to qualify for the ballot may not be legitimate. Lyman, a state lawmaker, trailed Cox by approximately 38,000 votes a week after election day. Lyman won the delegate vote at April’s Republican Party nominating convention.

After 24 hours of handwringing and investigating if hundreds of Utahns' mail-in ballots with late postmarks could be counted, the Iron County Commission voted 2-1 on Tuesday to officially certify their 2024 primary election results. On Monday, Republican Commissioner Paul Cozzens disrupted the typically routine vote to certify the election results by refusing to approve the final count. He cited the rejection of approximately 400 ballots postmarked after the June 24 deadline.

Utah’s 3rd Congressional District Republican primary election with five candidates vying to replace outgoing Rep. John Curtis, who is running for U.S. Senate this year. Republicans JR Bird, John Dougall, Mike Kennedy, Case Lawrence and Stewart Peay are each on the June 25 ballot. Kennedy, a state lawmakers, survived six rounds of voting at April’s GOP state convention, to win over delegates for their nomination. The winner of the 3rd District primary will face Democrat Glenn Wright this fall.

Rep. John Curtis appears to have a big lead over his Republican rivals ahead of the June primary election in Utah’s U.S. Senate race, according to a new poll. The survey, which queried 600 likely Utah Republican primary voters shortly after the Utah GOP’s state convention, gives Curtis 41% support. Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs, who triumphed over Curtis at last month’s state convention, was second with 14.5%.
