Wet weather continues with afternoon storms

Today brings more rain chances back into central Ohio, but later in the afternoon thunderstorms will begin to develop and move as well. At the moment, none of these storms are expected to strengthen to a severe level. Temperatures will once again reach the mid 70s for the daytime high. Rain chances will continue through at least the middle of the week as Wednesday brings in a few more thunderstorms by the afternoon.

After a decent break from the rain, more wet weather is on the way. Increasing clouds will continue for the first part of the day. By the afternoon scattered rain showers move into central Ohio. Temperatures will reach the mid 70s around midday, then fall as the rain moves in. Tonight skies will remain mainly cloudy with an occasional spotty rain shower. Humidity will be a little bit elevated as well and it may feel a bit muggy overnight lows will drop into the lower 60s.

Mother’s Day Sunday may arguably be the best day in the extended forecast. This should not be a surprise since mothers deserve the best. Skies are going to stay mostly sunny all day long. High temperatures will warm up to 80 degrees. Most of the evening will remain mostly clear, then as the night continues more clouds are slowly going to build up. Overall temperatures will stay mild with morning lows only falling to the mid-upper 50s.

Today the sunshine continues, but later in the day temperatures will rise to the mid 70s. This is going to kick off a fantastic Mother’s Day weekend that includes any outdoor plans. The only chance for a few extra clouds will not come until late in the day, and even then, they will be limited. A few more clouds will roll in overnight. Winds are expected to remain calm. The good news is frost is not expected tonight since air temperatures will be much warmer.

Cooler conditions will temporarily settle in across central Ohio to end the workweek. This is going to be the last day with temperatures below seasonable in the extended forecast. Highs will top up in the mid 60s with sunny skies. During the day winds are expected to be a bit breezy at times. North winds blowing at 10-15 mph will make it feel a tad cooler. Overnight a mostly clear night is expected. Winds are also going to calm down as well.

Tuesday brings more showers for much of the day. Areas that are going to see the highest new rainfall totals will be north of the city. Temperatures will stay well below average for this time of year. This will be the last super wet day in the extended forecast. Tonight rain showers will begin to taper off across the region. Skies for most of the night are still going to stay mostly cloudy. Overnight lows will remain mild by comparison as temperatures only fall to the low-mid 50s.

The work week will start with more chances for showers and thunderstorms. The majority of Monday’s activity will pick up by late afternoon and become more widespread by the evening. Areas east of the city have a slight risk (2/5) for severe weather. Chances for strong winds and hail are possible. Highs will be in the low 60s as the center of low pressure sticks around the region. Steady rain chances will continue into the overnight hours.

Sunday brings a few less chances for rain, but there will be moments where pockets will see heavier downpours. The afternoon is going to reintroduce the chance for thunderstorms though none of them are expected to be severe. Highs will be in the low 60s as the stationary boundary will lift a little bit above the city. Tonight skies will stay mostly cloud but with few chances for just a little bit of clearing. A couple of spotty rain chances will stick around especially closer to morning.

A stationary frontal boundary and a center of low pressure will virtually park themselves over central Ohio. This is the driving mechanism for plenty of rain showers that are expected for most of Saturday. Up to an inch of new rain will fall across portions of the region. Temperatures are going to hover around the 60 degree mark for most of the day as well. Rain will continue into the overnight hours as well though it will not be as wide spread.
