    Softball, women’s lacrosse competed on the road Fort Lewis College sophomore Zachary Gaumont continues to rewrite the Skyhawks’ track and field record books. Gaumont established new outdoor track and field school records in the 100-meter and 200 events at the Chuck Hearing Invitational on Friday in Pueblo. Gaumont won the men’s 100 in 10.42 seconds and finished second in the men’s 200 in 21.41. He previously broke the school record in the 60 and 200 during the indoor track and field season.

    Three different Demons scored in 3-0 win on Saturday afternoon On Saturday afternoon, the Durango girls soccer team did not look like a winless squad that had given up 13 goals in its first three games. The Demons never let Montrose look comfortable anywhere on the field and cruised to a 3-0 win. Durango controlled possession with some good passing and movement off the ball. The Demons’ defense played well together and shut down some skilled Montrose forwards.

    Skyhawks women’s basketball expected to return eight rotation players Fort Lewis College women’s basketball head coach Lauren Zuniga’s first season leading the program didn’t go very well. But there’s hope for year two for Zuniga and the program. Zuniga entered her first season as the Skyhawks’ head coach with goals of earning a spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament and finishing with a winning record.

    Softball swept Adams State on Saturday, Sunday Early season struggles have led to losing streaks for Fort Lewis College’s softball and women’s lacrosse teams. The softball team broke its losing streak over the weekend while the women’s lacrosse team extended its losing streak. Softball snapped a 13-game losing streak by sweeping a four-game series at Adams State on Saturday and Sunday. FLC improved to 6-22 overall and 5-18 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference after the four wins.

    Five Demons scored on Tuesday evening The Durango girls lacrosse team’s home opener couldn’t have gone much better. It was a perfect spring day and the Demons nearly played a perfect game in their dominant 15-2 victory over Montrose on Tuesday evening Montrose had no answer for Durango’s speed and shooting. The Red Hawks struggled to maintain possession, whether it was outlet passes from their goalie or passes between midfielders.
