Durango Fire Protection District tears down old Station 2 after housing firefighters for 40 years Randy Black, chief of Durango Fire Protection District, operates a trackhoe Tuesday as he became the first to begin tearing down the old fire Station 2 at 380 Camino del Rio. Black worked out of the building as an EMS captain for 12 years and dealt with its short comings and safety hazards. The department recently opened the new fire Station 2, built adjacent to the old station.

Award winners received $2,500 scholarship Two Durango High School and two Dolores High School seniors were recently announced as the winners of the Rodney Ems Memorial Golf Scholarship. The $2,500 scholarship recognizes both the academic and athletic achievements of students pursuing higher education. Owen Muraro and Ben Ogden of Durango High School and Samantha Abate and Siena Parr of Dolores High School are all a part of their school’s golf teams.
