    The first county council by-election since the general election has been called for next month. The poll on November 21 was sparked by the death of independent member Cllr Peter Harman. Cllr Harman, who represented Swanscombe and Greenhithe on Kent County Council (KCC) and Greenhithe and Knockhall at Dartford Borough Council, died suddenly in August, leading to elections to both seats. At least five potential candidates will be named before nominations close on October 25.

    A total of $2.8 million in essential infrastructure upgrades funded by the NSW Government to support social, economic and employment benefits have been completed in Condobolin. The Roads to Home program in the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) has funded Condobolin Local Aboriginal Land Council to upgrade infrastructure at the Willow Bend Village.

    Central West Family Support Group held a ‘Ready Set Glow Disco’ to celebrate Children’s Week on Friday, 20 September. The Condobolin RSL Club came alive as Dee Verse Mcgrory provided music and karaoke for all to enjoy. Children were provided LED sticks, ice cream and prizes as part of the free community event.

    A new gazebo has been constructed at the Condobolin Cemetery. The project was made possible with a $20,000 donation from the Condobolin Garden Festival Inc. “The Garden Festival members explained that they were keen to fund a project that would provide a lasting benefit for the community,” a statement from Lachlan Shire Council said. “Members of the Garden Festival Committee suggested the gazebo as a shady, pleasant place for people to sit and reflect when visiting the cemetery.
