The deceased have been identified as Sarat Mahalik and Manas Mallik of Arasa village under Tihidi police limits. According to sources, the mishap took place during a religious procession from Hatuhari to the Kantimangala shrine in Nuananda panchayat.

    The Odisha government has imposed a 61-day fishing ban along the state’s coastal waters starting today, April 15, which will remain in effect until June 14. Why This BanAccording to sources, this annual measure is aimed at conserving marine biodiversity and supporting fish breeding during the spawning season. The ban prohibits fishing by all mechanised boats and trawlers. However, traditional fishing boats that are up to 8.5 meters in length are exempted from the restriction.
