Bylaw officers in Surrey have seized a record number of illegal fireworks in the past three weeks. Between Oct. 27 and Nov. 9, the City of Surrey Bylaws team and Surrey RCMP have seized $345,000 worth of fireworks from four locations, according to the city. "I commend our dedicated Bylaws team for working tirelessly to locate and seize a record number of illegal fireworks in our City," said Mayor Brenda Locke.

Bylaw officers in Surrey have made another significant seizure of illegal fireworks. In a news release issued Monday, the city estimated the value of the seized fireworks at $80,000 and described how the investigation unfolded. "Bylaw officers scheduled an appointment with the seller to purchase fireworks and attended a property which appeared to be an abandoned house," the statement from the city says.
