Vancouver’s mayor says he’s frustrated the province has yet to make legal changes that would permit the abolition of the city’s elected park board. The mother of a young Indigenous woman found dead in B.C. three years ago says she’s grappling with mixed emotions now that a coroner’s inquest has been called in the case. Tatyanna Harrison was found dead on a drydocked yacht in Richmond in May 2022. Her remains were actually found a day before she was reported missing, but it was four months before she was properly identified, and her family has since raised numerous concerns about how the case was handled.

Residents of a Chilliwack, B.C., seniors’ apartment are on edge after two separate fires just a few days apart. The latest fire broke out around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, in a unit on the sixth floor of the 11-storey building. Forty firefighters from five firehalls attended the scene, where they found multiple occupants trapped on the fire floor.
