BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced it will illuminate its conservatory in blue on Friday in memory of Mark Mortenson. Mortenson was the organization’s President and CEO, he died on September 14. The organization described his passing in a social media post as "sudden." He led the Botanical Gardens since March 2022. Before that, he worked at the Buffalo Museum of Science and the Walt Disney Company in California.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A small tornado surprised everyone in Buffalo on Monday, causing significant damage to buildings, flipping cars, and sending debris swirling around the city. The tornado was spotted shortly before 1 p.m. and videos show the storm moving from Lake Erie into the downtown area, uprooting roofing materials along the way. According to the National Weather Service, the tornado started at the shore where Lake Erie flows into the Niagara River and traveled a path of about 1.4 miles.

The Buffalo Common Council announced it has adopted a resolution involving several changes to help make the city fiscally sound. They include appointing a council member to the Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority, holding monthly budget meetings with the city comptroller and reviewing all non-revenue generating programs.
