Karan Shinde’s second century of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season was the highlight of a rather uneventful final day of Andhra’s Elite Group ‘B’ match against Pondicherry at the CAP Siechem stadium here which ended in a draw on Sunday. Resuming at 248 for five, the visiting team scored briskly and picked up 71 runs in 13.2 overs with Karan moving to his hundred swiftly. With K.V. Sasikanth retiring hurt on his overnight score of 39, P.V.S.N. Raju came in as a concussion substitute.

The 20-year-old right-hander fell at the fag end of the day to medium-pacer Abin Mathew (three for 37) for 105 (248b, 7x4) guiding the visiting team to 245 for seven when it slipped to 110 for six in the second session after opting to bat first.

A wasteful Chennaiyin FC went down 2-0 to East Bengal FC in an Indian Super League football match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Saturday, its third straight loss. P.V. Vishnu and Jeakson Singh were on target for the Red and Gold brigade as the home team failed to cash in on the opportunities that came its way. Chennaiyin had the better of the exchanges in the opening half, but its forward-line couldn’t find the back of the net.
