Designed to handle data flows of up to 1 Gb/s, Phoenix Contact's new RJ45 magnetic jacks are similar to traditional Ethernet ports. The difference is they integrate magnetic components, such as transformers, chokes, and common-mode filters, directly in the jack housing. According to Phoenix, the new RJ45 jacks (see figure) simplify the Ethernet design process, reduce PCB complexity, and minimize the risk of EMC.

During the late 1960s and following decades, NASA started low-level SETI research, assisting with various projects like the Microwave Observing Project, High-Resolution Microwave Survey, and Project Orion. In 1971, researchers authored the Cyclops Report, proposing the construction of a 1,500-dish array to find alien signals. However, this was canceled as it cost too much-$10 billion.

Hacksmith Industries' is the closest replica of a Star Wars lightsaber in existence. James Hobson engineered the replica, which features a retractable plasma beam capable of reaching temperatures up to 4,000°F, enough heat to slice through steel. The saber uses a mix of liquid propane gas and oxygen as fuel, which makes it stable and enables the blade to extend and retract without deforming.
