The United Sportsmen’s Alliance is hosting “Take Kids Fishing Day” events in Wisconsin over the weekend. The events will aim to introduce young people of various backgrounds and abilities to fishing. Union volunteers will be on hand to provide instruction to the kids and their families.

    AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) – If you have a child aged 8-17 with an interest in aviation, mark your calendars! Young people will have a chance to take to the sky in Austin for free. The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter #386 is hosting the Young Eagles Flight Rally at Austin Municipal Airport Saturday, June 7th. The point is to interest young people in aviation. According to a news release, since the program launched in 1992, volunteer EAA pilots have flown more than 2 million young people.

    WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) – On this final day of Mental Health Awareness Month, an area mental health center is celebrating a major milestone, as well as the work it’s doing to support outpatient mental health services. Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) is based in Winona and is celebrating 60 years in 2025. It started as a small clinic in 1965. Since then, it has expanded to include outpatient offices in Wabasha, Caledonia, and Red Wing.

    ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Advocates say kids on the autism spectrum can sometimes have strong, intense interests. KTTC’s May Kid With Courage won over our hearts with his. Cole Goodman, 10, of Stewartville shared his interests with our news crew right off the bat. “Do you live by Great Clips?” he asked. Cole shared that he knows the hours of the Great Clips location he visits in Rochester. Cole’s mother, Celena Goodman, said vacuum cleaners are also a big interest.

    ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) – The Albert Lea City Council is preparing for its final vote on making changes to its cannabis regulations at its meeting Tuesday evening. The city is working to get a system in place as the state’s Office of Cannabis Management starts to issue licenses for cannabis retailers. According to the city, the changes include rejecting applications for registration or seeking more info, denying or revoking registrations, and selecting business applicants to register.
