CHARLESTON — A man was granted bail June 9 in connection to an attempted murder altercation months after his alleged victim was given house arrest for killing the man's cousin. Pierre L. Woodfield, 36, of North Charleston was granted bail in the form of a $250,000 surety bond under the condition he be confined to a "very, very strict house arrest" with GPS ankle monitoring, according to Ninth Circuit Judge Roger Young.

CHARLESTON — Nearly three years after a stand-in actor for the popular TV show "Outer Banks" was struck and killed by an accused drunken driver, Uptown Social has been looped into the fray for allegedly over-serving the suspect. Alexander "AJ" Dmitry Jennings, 22, died from injuries after two vehicles struck him and drove off on Sol Legare Road on James Island in the early-morning hours of July 5, 2022.

CHARLESTON — The three men arrested for having several automatic-style weapons on College of Charleston property were active-duty Air Force members and exempt from a law that bars weapons from school campuses, according to authorities. Jorge Antonio Calvario, 22; A'tavious Sincere Flowers, 22; and J'marri Aisian McCall, 23; were arrested by campus police June 1 around 2:30 a.m. after officers found them allegedly intoxicated and asleep in a vehicle on the top level of a parking garage.

GOOSE CREEK — A Bonneau man reportedly fell off an area boat dock and drowned June 4, according to authorities. Agencies responded to the Bushy Park Boat Landing, 500 Bushy Park Road, a little after noon and recovered a body from the Back River, said Charlotte McKee, spokesperson for the state Department of Natural Resources. Dean Elsey Sr., a 61-year-old Bonneau resident, died on the scene, according to the Berkeley County Coroner's Office.

NORTH CHARLESTON — Days after a woman was shot at and injured during a "road rage dispute," area police are seeking the public's help to find witnesses and identify the shooter. Just after 5:30 p.m. June 3, officers responded to the Sunoco gas station at 4908 Ashley Phosphate Road in reference to an assault, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, police were met by a 26-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. She told the officers she'd just been shot at while driving on Dorchester Road.
