CONWAY — A 16-year-old from North Carolina has been arrested in connection with a Memorial Day weekend shooting in Little River that injured 11 people, according to Horry County Police. The suspect, who hasn't been identified because of his age, was the second person arrested in the case. Shawon Shamarion Williams, a 19-year-old U.S. Navy sailor, was taken into custody last week at Naval Station Great Lakes, a naval base just north of Chicago.

COLUMBIA — South Carolina residents can peruse the Columbia Museum of Art for free all summer long for the second year in a row thanks to a grant aimed at making museums accessible. CONWAY — Horry County just offered Myrtle Beach nearly $8.3 million for the city to take over the county's share of Pelicans Ballpark, but it's unclear if that will be enough to keep the team in the city. The 21st Avenue North park needs an estimated $20 million in upgrades to meet Major League Baseball's standards, and that doesn't include about $15.5 million for other repairs and maintenance.

GAFFNEY — The April 16 email from the school president’s office, the one that summoned the Limestone University student body to a modest gym, didn’t hint at the bombshell they were to receive about three hours later. “Dear Students, Please come to Timken Gym today at 2:30 p.m. for an all-student meeting.”There, Limestone president Dr. Nathan B. Copeland revealed that the 179-year-old private school would close at the end of the semester.
