LUBBOCK, Texas — A man who was indicted for several crimes involving children, Delmer Orlando Ortiz-Licona, 32, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Sexual Assault on Wednesday and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. EverythingLubbock.com previously reported in 2022, a mother caught Licona naked in bed with her daughter. Court documents stated Licona ran away, but the mother chased after him in her car.

LUBBOCK, Texas — A heavy police presence was seen in the 5900 block of 71st Street following a brief pursuit on Tuesday evening. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office confirmed SWAT responded to the scene. LCSO said the situation is still developing. The situation started a little after 7:00 p.m. The Lubbock Police Department front desk said after a short chase, a subject ran and went inside a home.

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was in the 5900 block of 71st Street on Tuesday evening to help catch a suspect who ran from a traffic stop, authorities said. The situation started a little after 7:00 p.m. LSCO said authorities tried to pull over a blue passenger car. The driver refused to stop and pulled into a driveway of a residence, got out of the vehicle and went inside the home.

LUBBOCK, Texas — In its latest measles outbreak update, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) said 709 cases have been confirmed since late January. This was an increase of seven cases since Tuesday. Fewer than 10 of those cases were confirmed to be active as of Friday. As of Tuesday morning, Lubbock County still had 51 confirmed measles cases. Gaines County had more than 400 cases.

LUBBOCK, Texas — Court documents obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Friday revealed a man who has been in jail since October 2024, Donnie Ford, Jr., 38, was charged with murder on Thursday in connection with selling a deadly dose of fentanyl. This was the first known instance of a Lubbock fentanyl dealer being charged with murder in connection with a deadly overdose since a Texas law was passed in 2023.
