SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — An 18-year-old man is charged with Assault and Intent to Commit Murder after allegedly stabbing a man at the Wounded Knee Memorial Cemetery. According to a press release from the South Dakota Attorney General’s office, 18-year-old Raymond Eagle Hawk Jr of Wounded Knee was intoxicated and panhandling at the Wounded Knee Cemetery. The victim, a 71-year-old man and his wife had traveled to the Pine Ridge Reservation from Texas to visit the memorial site.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Thursday’s extreme heat is causing some roads across KELOLAND to buckle. Take a look at this. We found buckling at the intersection of 41st Street and Veterans Parkway – on the east side of Sioux Falls. City workers are getting cones put out. If you see buckling, make sure to drive carefully over the area and report it to the City of Sioux Falls Streets Department. The South Dakota Highway Patrol also stated in a post on X that roads across the state are buckling.

In a news release, Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko announced that Joseph Roemmich has been hired to be the new warden. “Joseph has extensive experience working in the corrections field in a variety of correctional and detention settings,” Wasko said in the press release.

According to a post on Facebook, at approximately 6:30 am, the Meade County Sheriff’s Department responded to a large truck carrying tires that reportedly left the roadway and rolled. The driver was uninjured.
