The crash happened at 3:23 p.m. Pacific time Tuesday during a routine training flight, the Navy said in a news release. Aerial search crews located the wreckage “on a mountainside east of Mount Rainier,” the Navy said in an update shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

EVERETT — News staff at The Daily Herald marched through downtown Everett for a one-day strike Monday, following a dozen layoffs in the newsroom and a year of unsuccessful labor negotiations. Carpenter Media Group, the new Mississippi-based partial owners of Snohomish County’s daily newspaper, announced a plan last week to eliminate positions 10 of 18 union workers, as well as the two top editors.

EDMONDS — A man and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a house fire Friday evening in Edmonds. Around 6 p.m., a passerby reported smoke coming from the eaves of a single-story house with a brick exterior near 224th Street SW and 72nd Place W. The person reportedly knocked on the door and heard what sounded like a baby crying inside of the home, South County Fire spokesperson Christie Veley said. The sound turned out to be a dog in a kennel, who died in the fire.
