Just a few hours after the Cave City Church of Christ in Arkansas met for a gospel meeting, an EF3 tornado obliterated the congregation’s  meeting place. On that Friday night last week, visiting speaker Barry O’Dell had emphasized that “the church is not the building.”No church members were hurt, nor were any of the their homes damaged, elder Barry Wilkes told media. But five community members suffered injuries, and Wilkes estimates at least 100 homes and business were destroyed.

MADISON, ALA. — Two gospel singing groups, the Hardeman Boys and Cornerstone Quartet, crossed paths at a youth rally in Bremen, Ga., in 1989. More than three decades later, they shared a stage again at the Madison Academy gym. This time they performed — to a more gray-haired audience — a medley of gospel, country and oldies music to raise money for Project Rescue, an addiction recovery ministry in Priceville, Ala., associated with Churches of Christ.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Just 9 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, Christians gathered at the North Las Vegas Church of Christ to tackle challenges facing the body of Christ in 2025. A predominantly Black coalition of about 200 ministry leaders traveled to Sin City for the recent 60th West Coast Preachers and Leaders Forum. Attendees represented 55 Churches of Christ in 12 states, most in the West. However, a few leaders came from as far away as Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Alabama.
