Troopers said Issac Sales caused the deadly accident, which resulted in the death of his passenger, 17-year-old Jaciey Dee Hogan. Sales faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and reckless driving involving serious injury and property damage.

The City of Cape Coral said it is closed to remove the lock and restore the seawall as part of the South Spreader Waterway Enhancement Project, which aims to improve water quality and waterway flow at the site.

    Cape Coral motorists should remain mindful of their speed, as traffic cameras in school zones will record and fine speeders. These cameras monitor 17 Cape Coral school zones, including Skyline Boulevard near Patriot and Skyline Elementary Schools. Beginning Monday, drivers exceeding the speed limit by more than 10 miles per hour during school days when the lights are flashing will be fined $100. Last week Friday was the last day drivers violating the speed limit only received written warnings.
