It does not appear the Colts are preparing position battles to replace Ryan Kelly and Will Fries. They have an obvious center successor lined up, in Tanor Bortolini, and their Fries successor is expected to also come from the 2024 draft class. Indianapolis is sliding Matt Goncalves, Braden Smith‘s primary right tackle fill-in last season, to guard. He will be expected to take over as the Colts’ starting right guard, per the Indianapolis Star’s Nate Atkins.

Colts DE Samson Ebukam is entering a contract year, and fortunately for player and team, it appears he will be on the field when training camp begins in July. Per Mike Chappell of Fox 59, Ebukam expects to be medically cleared in time for camp. Ebukam paced the Colts with 9.5 sacks in 2023, a performance that led to high expectations in 2024. Unfortunately, the former fourth-round pick of the Rams suffered a torn Achilles shortly after last year’s training camp got underway.

The NFC North is loaded with intrigue, from the Chicago Bears getting a new coach for Caleb Williams to the Detroit Lions restocking after a stunning No. 1-seed exit to the Green Bay Packers looking to stay healthy around Jordan Love. Perhaps no team is as perennially hard to pin down as the Minnesota Vikings, however.

At this time, every franchise holds the right to their own first-round selection, but there is intrigue atop the order.

The 2025 NFL Draft will commence in less than a week, and at 8:00 p.m. E.T., commissioner Roger Goodell will stroll across the stage at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisc. and announce that the Tennessee Titans are on the clock with the first selection. Unless they make a move toward the top of the draft, the Indianapolis Colts will have to wait a bit for their turn, as they choose 14th.

It is not exactly a secret the Colts could view this draft as the avenue to upgrade a tight end contingent that has been an issue for a while. Although Indianapolis ranked 32nd in receptions from tight ends last season, the team has been in need for many years at the position. The Colts have zero 400-yard TE receiving seasons during the 2020s, seeing Jelani Woods‘ back-to-back missed seasons disrupt their plans.
