In the late 1730s, Johann Sebastian Bach composed four short masses in Latin in part, by selecting portions from his earlier works and putting them together in new and ingenious ways, resulting in musically rich mass settings. On this edition of Baroque&Before, Fredrik Malmberg leads the Swedish Radio Choir and Capella Suecia in one of these short masses, BWV 236 in G Major. The beloved cantata “Sleepers Awake” opens the concert.
