Haxtun is set to face McClave as the sixth seeded team in the bracket on Saturday, May 10 at Flatirons Academy. McClave enters the bracket as the 11th seed. The road to Regionals started at home last week as Haxtun, the number one team in the District bracket, took the field against Briggsdale.

    Haxtun Health has made significant strides in adding additional providers to the medical care team. Interim Chief Executive Officer Julia Biesemeier told board members in a late April meeting that two new providers have been added to the local care team. "Haxtun Health has made strong strides in strengthening our provider team and preparing for our future," she said. Biesemeier announced the addition of Dr. Judd Dawson and Nurse Practitioner Michael Dumpert to the Haxtun Health provider team.

    As the season ticks away the Haxtun Track team has been busy working to secure a spot at the State Meet slated for next Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood. Over the past week, tracksters competed in the HWAY Meet in Julesburg, the Burlington Invite, the LPAA League Meet in Wiggins, the MHI meet in Merino and the Holyoke Dragon Invite. Top-10 results from those meets are as follows:HWAY, Julesburg, April 30Girls1,600-meter run: Jinjer Stroyek, sixth, 6:25.37.

    Fifteen students in Mrs. Tricia Etl's fifth grade class presented World Fair projects in Fleming last week. The annual project requires students to pick a country to feature at the World Fair. Throughout the project students are required to research, prepare and present their project to fellow Fleming students at the Fair. This year, fifth grader Tristan Steward and his family plan to visit Costa Rica when school gets out for the summer. Daelynn Resendiz selected Mexico due to family ties.

    The Haxtun Police Department re-registered a sex offender within Haxtun's city limits on last week. Patrick Lee Pittman is registered in the 200 block of West Grant Street. Pittman, 34, was convicted in June 2013 of attempted sex assault on a child in a position of trust in Yuma County. He is required to register as a sex offender annually....
