    The Haxtun Bulldogs brought home a State Track team title, marking the first boys' track championship in nearly 50 years. The Bulldogs earned a total of 77.5 points for the 1A State Track Championship, bringing home the third title in program history. The last came in 1976. The Lady Bulldog track team earned a fifth place finish at the Colorado High School Activities Association State Track Championships at Jeff. Co. Stadium last week. They finished with 41 total points.

Frenchman Board of Education members approved two new staff members as well as the preliminary budget and classified salary schedule for the 2025-26 school year in a May 9 meeting. Principal Kortney Firme opened the meeting with staff reports, noting that all NWEA testing and teacher evaluations are completed for the current year.

In addition to the school staff needs, the local school board also approved a list of new coaches for high school girls' sports. The May 14 meeting opened at 7 p.m. in the school library and following the pledge of allegiance and approval of the consent agenda, board members and administration moved onto discussion items.
