Americans hold divided views on Donald Trump’s second term, according to two separate polls by YouGov in the week after the election (November 6 - 9 and November 9 - 12). Many of Trump's voters are eager for action on immigration and economic reforms. Kamala Harris’ voters, on the other hand, express deep concerns about Trump taking office; many express fears that democracy will erode and fundamental rights will be lost. Meanwhile, expectations for a woman to be elected president have fallen.

Heading into the 2024 election, many registered voters hold a negative view of the country's economic circumstances. Negative assessments of the American economy are politically polarized: Donald Trump's supporters are far more likely than Kamala Harris' to say the U.S. economy's current state is poor (62% vs. 12%). Trump supporters emphasize the economy — and inflation in particular — as important to their vote much more than Harris supporters do.

A new YouGov survey asked Americans to consider how more than 50 fictional characters from film, TV, and literature — all of whom are portrayed as being American — would vote in the 2024 presidential election. Among Americans familiar with each of the characters, those viewed as most likely to be, hypothetically, in Kamala Harris' camp all are women — Liz Lemon, Leslie Knope, Carrie Bradshaw, Phoebe Buffay, Elaine Benes, and Barbie.
