SACRAMENTO, Calif. — 2025 is kicking off with some of the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles County. While the fires have not yet been added to the top 20 list, more than 1,000 structures have been burned or destroyed in the Southern California fires, according to the Associated Press. Five deaths have also been reported. The Palisades Fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday before several other fires broke out in and around Los Angeles.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Thousands of runners will lace up Sunday, Dec. 8, to compete in what’s known as the “fastest course in the West," or the California International Marathon. The marathon is set to start promptly at 7 a.m. near Folsom Dam where temperatures are expected to be at a chilly 42 degrees. About two hours into the race, temperatures should be around 48 degrees and around 55 degrees at noon. The daytime high in Sacramento Sunday is forecast to be 56 degrees.

CALIFORNIA, USA — A high pressure system has set up over the western U.S. and as far out as the long range computer models can show, each approaching storm system looks to be lifted up and over the Pacific Northwest to Canada. The latest GFS models show the possibility of a Dec. 15 low pressure system approaching the Central Coast, into Southern California. Another storm may look a little more promising. That system moving into northern California on Dec. 18-19.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Cities across Northern California are already reporting double if not triple the amount of rain for November than the average year. Two atmospheric rivers toward the end of the month accounted for most of the rain, with the highest and record setting daily rain for November 22nd, coming in at 2 inches. The month kicked off with the first storm system on Nov. 1st, bringing in a weak atmospheric river. This dropped about a .30-.50" of rain from Sacramento, north.
