Dennis “Dizzy” Doan has accomplished several things, with the intent to uplift and serve his community, since turning 19 years old in 2010The first business he opened was a tattoos shop at the age of 19 with no credit and no business experience. Four years later, he opened BLVCK LOTVS TATTOO, the first tattoo studio on Convoy Street. It has an apprenticeship program to help artists develop their tattoo skills and advise on business and life.

This year’s San Diego County Fair theme is “Summer Pet-tacular” and over several weeks, it will highlight several pet-friendly activities and events. There are about 14 such attractions this year and approximately half of those are dog-centric, starting on the fair’s opening day on June 11. San Diegans can listen to live jazz music, hear poetry and learn about Black history in San Diego County this year to honor and celebrate Juneteenth. Here is a list of various events in chronological order. Jazz performance: The Oak Park Library is celebrating Juneteenth with a live jazz concert. The Young Lions Jazz Conservatory, by maestro Gilbert Castellanos, will perform for one hour. The event will also include book readings, light refreshments and activities for children.
