A U.S. man guilty of kidnapping and sexually abusing an Edmonton teen has been sentenced to 50 years behind bars. Noah Madrano pled guilty in January to two U.S. felonies related to the 2022 abduction and assault of the 13-year-old girl. During sentencing Tuesday, Oregon U.S. District Court Judge Michael Moseman explained why he did not sentence Madrano to life in prison for sexual exploitation of a child and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

A popular Edmonton service dog known for spreading kindness and accessibility awareness on social media has died. Kuno's owner shared the news on X Thursday, saying the rottweiler passed away "a day after his 8th birthday. He had fluid in his abdomen and was becoming septic."Admin post:???? From traffic stops to arrests, if you are interacting with RCMP, expect to be on camera. The RCMP are rolling out cameras across Canada but they aren't new to officers here west of Edmonton, in Parkland County, one of three places in Alberta where body cams were tested. "Helping increase our accountability, and trust with the public," said Insp. Kevin Mcgillivray, Officer-in-charge, Parkland RCMP. The Alberta RCMP expect body cams to be across the province, in about a year.

As Jasper residents brace for a long road to recovery, the community is open to tourists choosing to visit this winter. But the "sea of devastation" in the Town of Jasper's west end after this summer's wildfire is overpowering, according to one resident who lost her home. "I've been living here for nine years, it's just unrecognizable to me," said Laura Coulson. "Sometimes you can't even remember which house stood down the block.
