Just before 5:30 p.m., the Kansas City Fire Department responded to a water rescue call near Highway 150 and Horridge Road. Witnesses told crews that two people in a canoe on a pond had overturned. One victim, an 8-year-old, was able to make their way back to land. The second victim, a 23-year-old man, was not able to swim to shore and drowned. Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to assist with the search, using sonar. KCFD also said a search dog was also called in.

A suspect is dead after a yet-to-be-identified Gladstone Police Officer shot him early Friday morning as part of a pursuit.According to investigators, Gladstone Police were called to the Englewood Vista Apartments, a senior living complex, at 3:19 Friday morning.When they arrived, they found three suspects attempting car break-ins.The Monday following the shooting, police identified the suspect who was shot and killed as 34-year-old Kansas City resident D'Metrius J. Robinson.
