On Monday, March 10, DC crews began removing the Black Lives Matter mural from the 16th Street block in front of the White House. It was a sight to behold for Washingtonians who remember the iconic mural’s inception in June 2020. The famous DC block was the location of large-scale racial justice protests that followed the murder of George Floyd. Black Lives Matter Plaza was officially declared a permanent monument in October 2021.

News & Politics Video footage of the new pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, at Smithsonian's National Zoo. The giant pandas Bao Li and Qing Bao arrived in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, October 15, ending an almost yearlong panda drought in DC. They traveled from China to Dulles Airport on the FedEx Panda Express and soon after arrived at Smithsonian’s National Zoo. The pair will spend a few months adapting to their new habitat before they make their public debut on January 24.

Fastest man alive Noah Lyles is going for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. If you’re an unabashed homer like us—and yes, we’re absolutely biased, it’s right there in our publication’s name—you should be rooting for the Alexandria native and running superstar, too. Lyles won a bronze medal in the 200-meter spring at the Tokyo games in 2021. He’s the reigning world champion in the 100 and 200 meters.

Meet Liberty and Bell, the 2023 presidential pardoned turkeys. On the White House South Lawn Monday, November 20, watch as President Biden pardons the lucky birds. As part of the annual tradition, the pair spent the night prior at the Willard InterContinental hotel.
