Ukiah motorcyclists raise funds for men’s health

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a global motorcycle event raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health programs on behalf of the “Movember” Foundation. On May 18, a group of 50 motorcyclists toured the Ukiah Valley in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, a worldwide event. Dressed in their dapper best, the riders toured Ukiah and environs on their vintage, classic, and modern motorcycles.

Rotarians from several Rotary Clubs gathered recently to celebrate the Rotary Club of Ukiah’s 100th year of service. The Rotary Club of Ukiah was formed on April 29, 1925. Hearing the stories of long-serving Rotarians was heartwarming and a reminder of the dedication of these men and women over the decades to service. Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 1900, and American Legion Lewis White Post 78, are again sponsoring a Memorial Day Ceremony, Monday, May 26, at noon at the Russian River Cemetery in Ukiah. “They put on the uniform. They answered the call, knowing the risks. They stood alongside their brothers and sisters in arms. They made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Beyond all that’s lost, let’s remember all they gave,” from the Posts.
VFW hosting breakfast fundraiser in Ukiah

Ukiah area Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1900 (VFW) has been sponsoring a breakfast fundraiser for decades. The next one is Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m.– noon at Veterans Memorial Hall, 293 Seminary Ave., Ukiah. The Post cannot do it alone. Redwood Empire Lions Club volunteers have been catering the breakfast: Eggs, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, sausage, and a drink – not a bad deal at $10.
