In early 2022, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden re-ignited the Cancer Moonshot to reinvigorate national action to defeat cancer, with the goal to reduce cancer deaths by 50% in the next 25 years.

Throughout the pandemic, Veteran care has remained VA’s primary responsibility and mission. Our COVID-19 Response Report and its annexes detail the lessons learned from VA’s efforts, challenges and successes in support of Veterans, their caregivers and the greater U.S. population. The latest Annex D Interim Report covers the period from April 1, 2022, through July 31, 2022. During that time, the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus continued to spread throughout the United States.

Since the very beginning of the pandemic, VA has been on the front lines, caring for Veterans and non-Veterans. In addition to treating Veterans in the hospital and as outpatients, VA staff also included encouraged and administered COVID-19 vaccines to Veterans, caregivers and immediate family members.
