LAKE OZARK — Hundreds from across Missouri gathered Thursday afternoon to reminisce and honor an Osage Beach officer who died over the weekend. Phylicia Carson, 33, of Lake Ozark, died Aug. 31 in a high-speed pursuit. According to previous KOMU 8 reporting, Carson was assisting a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling high speeds on U.S. 54 when she veered off the road and struck a tree. She is survived by her husband, Grant, and their six children.

LAKE OZARK — Visitation is being held for fallen Osage Beach police officer Phylicia Carson at the Lodge of the Four Seasons. Beginning around 1 p.m., there will be a funeral held for Carson. The funeral will stream live here on KOMU.com and the KOMU 8 streaming apps. Following the funeral, a procession will begin on Horseshoe Bend Parkway, before turning onto U.S. Highway 54 West. It will then take Route Y to Midway Road, and turn on Route A to Freedom Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Grant, and their six children. Throughout the funeral on Thursday, many honored Carson and her legacy. Lake Ozark Police Chief James Boren and Officer Dylan Green reflected on Carson's love for a Lipton peach iced tea. Carson's eldest daughter, Teighan, looked back on her mother's encouraging spirit.

The Cleveland Animal Protective League, along with the Ohio Animal Welfare Federation, announced that the Pet-Friendly Rental Act has been passed by the Ohio House Ways and Means Committee on June 4. The bill, Sub House Bill 277, would create tax incentives for landlords to accept pet owners with or without companion animals as tenants. Landlords could access up to $750 for up to 10 units annually based on certain criteria.
