As a Midwest City, OK, native, Trystan Haynes was always intrigued by the possibility of playing for the Sooners. Haynes, a freshman cornerback from Carl Albert High School, had offers from just about everywhere. Alabama, Georgia and Notre Dame are just a few of the powerhouse programs that offered Haynes. He verbally committed to OU in May 2024 but still explored other options after that, taking official visits to Miami, Texas A&M and Notre Dame. But the 2024 fall solidified Haynes’ commitment.

Not many players on Oklahoma’s roster, if any, have wheels like Tory Blaylock’s. Blaylock, a freshman running back from Texas, is also a track star. He was a part of Atascocita High School’s state championship-winning 4x100 relay team, which set a national record with a time of 38.92 in 2024. The Sooners are getting more than a football player — they’re getting an elite athlete.

A former Oklahoma guard has finally found a home. Maybe. Duke Miles,, who started all 34 games for OU in 2024-25, has reportedly committed to Vanderbilt, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. This isn’t Miles’ first dalliance with the transfer portal this offseason. Rather, it’s his third. After leaving OU, Miles was previously committed to Virginia and Texas A&M. Miles had plenty of experience in the portal before he even got to Oklahoma last year.

A fourth-inning surge wasn’t enough for Oklahoma on Sunday. After tying the game with two runs in the fourth, the No. 17 Sooners lost 7-2 to Kentucky. The Wildcats swept the series after wins on Friday and Saturday, and it marks Oklahoma’s fourth loss in a row. Oklahoma starter Malachi Witherspoon struggled to contain Kentucky’s offense. The junior allowed a run in each of the first two innings. He allowed three more — off back-to-back home runs — in the fourth inning.

NORMAN — Alex Shieldnight wanted the right fit, not an easy fit. Shieldnight, a freshman defensive end from Wagoner, OK, knew from the first time he visited Norman that Oklahoma would be the right program for him. And a few months into his time at OU, it’s clear to Shieldnight that he made the right decision. “It’s been a great transition,” Shieldnight said at newcomer media day in March. “It’s nothing like high school. You have guys that want to be here, want to work.
