More than a hundred Oklahoma hopefuls were in Norman on Thursday for the second Brent Venables Elite Football Camp of 2025. Here are observations from the camp, held at Everest Training Center:Cooper Hooker of Salina, OK, was near unguardable during the wide receiver-defensive back portion of camp. Hooker’s speed and footwork allowed him to ease past opposing defensive backs on almost every rep, despite holding a 5-9, 155-pound frame.

Now over a year removed from her illustrious career at Iowa, Caitlin Clark is continuing to make history on and off the hardwood. Clark graced the cover of SLAM Magazine in April 2024 in her black and gold Hawkeyes uniform. The single-highest graded copy of that magazine sold for $4,819 at Goldin Auctions on Saturday, the most ever spent on any copy of SLAM. The copy of SLAM received a 9.9 by Certified Guaranty Company, which grades copies of magazines, trading cards and comic books.

Former Oklahoma pitcher Kelly Maxwell is heading back to the Sooner State. Maxwell, who graduated from OU in 2024, signed with the OKC Spark — an independent professional softball team that plays at Tom Heath Field — on Wednesday. Maxwell played one season at Oklahoma after five years at Oklahoma State. In her lone year at OU, Maxwell went 23-2 with a 1.94 ERA in 155.1 innings. She logged 164 strikeouts, holding opponents to a .165 batting average.

Oklahoma outfielder Maya Bland announced that she will enter the transfer portal on Wednesday. Bland made the announcement on her Instagram account, saying, “Thank you Sooner Nation for the love and support that you’ve shown me these past two years, I greatly appreciate it. God has a new path for me, but I will cherish my time as a Sooner.”Bland was a major prospect out of high school, batting .528 with 16 home runs as a junior at Argyle High School in Texas as a junior.
