Capital murder charges refiled against two men

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Capital murder charges were dismissed and refiled against two men who had been arrested for a mass shooting at an east El Paso bar back in 2023. Andrew James Williams and Aaron John are accused of the capital murder of multiple people. They have also been facing four charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The charges come from a shooting at the Ditzy Duck bar on July 14, 2023. The shooting killed Alexa Retana, 27, and James Nicholson, 26.

El Paso Police's traffic account on X posted all eastbound lanes at Airport Dr. and westbound lanes at Global reach are closed. Our ABC-7 crew at the scene saw what looks like a white sheet covering a body, though no injuries or deaths are confirmed. Our crew also reports military police are managing the scene. El Paso Fire says the department was alerted to the crash at 6:21 a.m.El Paso Fire is calling the crash a "mass casualty incident." This does not necessarily indicate a death, but rather the scale of the response needed. The department has confirmed multiple people at the scene are injured.

Breaking: Thousands without electricity after morning power outage

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A few thousand people are currently without power according to the El Paso Electric outage map. Many of the dots indicating hotspots for outages are concentrated along the alameda area. The most affected area appears to be near Alameda and North Loop, with 1,500 in a close radius affected by the outage. El Paso Electric confirmed the accuracy of the outage map, and said crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Person in hospital after being pulled from canal

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person is in the hospital with minor injuries after they were pulled from a canal near Loop 375 and Midway, which is near Riverside Middle School. Authorities were called around 11:40 p.m. on March 27 and were told someone had fallen into the canal near the border wall. Border Patrol and the El Paso Fire Department worked together to pull the person out and send them to a local hospital.
El Paso County Deputies investigating shooting death of Fabens man

FABENS, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso County Sheriff's Office and Texas Rangers are investigating an overnight shooting on 125 Mezcla in Fabens, Texas, that left one man dead. The sheriff's office says deputies were sent out at 1:43 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired in the area. Deputies arrived on the scene and found 26-year-old Aaron Villa with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders tried to treat Villa's injuries, and he was sent to Del Sol Medical Center.
