EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A few thousand people are currently without power according to the El Paso Electric outage map. Many of the dots indicating hotspots for outages are concentrated along the alameda area. The most affected area appears to be near Alameda and North Loop, with 1,500 in a close radius affected by the outage. El Paso Electric confirmed the accuracy of the outage map, and said crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person is in the hospital with minor injuries after they were pulled from a canal near Loop 375 and Midway, which is near Riverside Middle School. Authorities were called around 11:40 p.m. on March 27 and were told someone had fallen into the canal near the border wall. Border Patrol and the El Paso Fire Department worked together to pull the person out and send them to a local hospital.

FABENS, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso County Sheriff's Office and Texas Rangers are investigating an overnight shooting on 125 Mezcla in Fabens, Texas, that left one man dead. The sheriff's office says deputies were sent out at 1:43 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired in the area. Deputies arrived on the scene and found 26-year-old Aaron Villa with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders tried to treat Villa's injuries, and he was sent to Del Sol Medical Center.

The university first posted on its X account the Engineering Key was being evacuated due to a gas odor at 6:30 p.m., later asking the wider public to avoid campus. The City of Lubbock Fire Rescue Department said it responded to multiple fires.
