The Giles County Commission approved the appointment of three individuals to the Airport Advisory Board last week. The action was taken at the Commission’s Jan. 21 meeting, which was streamed live and remains available on-demand on the Pulaski Citizen Live YouTube Channel and on the Pulaski Citizen Facebook page. Appointed to the board were District 1 Commissioner Jim Lathrop, Elkton Mayor Ryan Gilland and Derek Rowe.

A two-day search and rescue effort for a missing Giles County woman ended with her located alive over the weekend. Giles E-911 received a call Jan. 24 reporting Kimberly Leeann Toone missing from Marvin Hughes Road in Goodspring. “Units from the Giles County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD) responded and requested assistance from the Giles County Office of Emergency Management (OEM),” Emergency Services Director Bill Myers said.

The Master Gardener Intern class is a 14-week series set for Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m., starting Jan. 28 and wrapping up the first week of May. Classes will be held at the Giles Extension Conference Building in Pulaski. The class includes reading resources, educational videos, hands-on activities, guest expert speakers and field trips. Becoming a Master Gardener also consists of a 40-hour volunteer commitment to be completed a year within taking the course.

Giles County Sheriff Joe Purvis has an offer for anyone who finds themselves in need of a safe ride home during the holidays. While the Giles County Sheriff’s Department is participating with law enforcement across the state for the DUI enforcement program Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, Purvis said his department will also offer rides home to people who find themselves with no other safe options. The statewide DUI enforcement campaign is scheduled for Dec. 11-Jan.
