    Drinking milk in Victory Lane is a long-standing Indy 500 tradition. It began in 1936 when driver Louis Meyer drank buttermilk after winning. He liked it on hot days. A Milk Foundation executive saw a photo of that moment and made sure it became a tradition. It has continued ever since, except for a short break from 1947 to 1955. Today, the American Dairy Association Indiana makes sure the winner gets their milk of choice. Drivers pick ahead of time — whole, 2%, or fat-free.

    Pope Leo XIV has made it clear: he’s not just leading the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics—he’s also going to be a dedicated poster. Just days after his election on May 8, the new pope deleted his old personal social media accounts. On May 13, he made his first post as pontiff on the official @Pontifex Instagram and X accounts. The post, shared in seven languages, included photos from his first few days and a message of peace. “Peace be with you all!” he wrote.

To help highlight where they are best supported, the nonprofit SmileHub released two new reports for 2025: Best Charities for Animals and Best States for Animals. SmileHub compared all 50 states using 18 key metrics. These included the number of charities per capita, how many homes have pets, and the number of veterinarians per pet-owning household.
