The Dickson County Lady Cougars competed in the 25th Annual Raptor Classic Softball Tournament last Friday and Saturday hosted by Ravenwood High at Crockett Park in Brentwood. With a 4-game guarantee format involving pool play followed by a single-elimination bracket, teams from across the region, and many from Williamson County, offered up some exciting games and sometimes intense competition.

Creek Wood and Dickson County met last week for a few different sports, but Friday and Saturday saw the baseball teams from the two county schools face off for a home and home series. Friday night’s contest was in Charlotte as the Red Hawks pulled away for a 15-1 win. Owen Maynard picked up a five-inning complete game. He allowed just the one run and four hits. Boone Harris, Jacob Morris and Ethan Ryals each finished with two hits and two RBI.

Creek Wood traveled to Sycamore last week as the Red Hawks faced off against Sycamore in a much-anticipated district matchup. Creek Wood was coming in with confidence and a 5-1-1 record, looking to stand up to the district powerhouse Sycamore, a team undefeated coming in at 7-0-1. Sycamore’s Dylan Atnip scored first and added another later. Dominik Gutierrez scored one goal before half and added another after to give the War Eagles the 4-0 win.

Harpeth hosted Cheatham County Central last Tuesday for the second and last meeting of the regular season between the two teams. Harpeth was able to hold off a comeback attempt from the Lady Cubs to get the win 6-5. It’s the first time Harpeth has beaten Cheatham County Central in softball since 2021. The Lady Indians struck early in the first inning with back-to-back doubles from Kyndall Threet and Taylor Riley. Ella Pomeroy came in to score on the first double with Threet coming around after.

For the first time in history, TSSAA-approved Flag Football is being played in Cheatham County – and the sport in flourishing across the county. Harpeth hosted the first meeting between the three in-county teams on Wednesday night for a round robin set of games. Cheatham County Central came out strong with a 31-6 win over Harpeth and a 41-6 win over Sycamore. The final game of the night saw Sycamore defeat Harpeth 19-6. The game is consisted of two twenty-minute halves with a running clock.
