A pit bull named Rhett was found in the town of Kirkland, extremely emaciated, weak, and unable to get up on his own. A Clark Mills woman was arrested and charged following an animal cruelty investigation, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. On May 28, Lindsay Meelan, 36, of Clark Mills was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, torture/injure/not feed animals, and a violation of dog control procedures.

Buildings and barns across New York started to buckle under the strain and Sokoloff Farm didn’t have one barn collapse — they had four. Assistance is available to New York farmers. Though times are tough and Mother Nature brought a hard winter, Evan and Cassandra Sokoloff of Sokoloff Farm in Western are looking to the future this summer with hope. Nestled at the end of McCormick Road in Western, Evan is a third-generation farmer and bought the farm in 2017.
