According to the Ulster County Director of Emergency Services Everett Erichsen, the tanker was carrying about 2,300 gallons of home heating fuel, which leaked about 500 gallons during the crash. According to the Kingston Fire Department, the hazmat team was requested by Woodstock Fire crews around 9 a.m. to assist at the scene.

According to the St. Johnsville Fire Department, another dog ran out of the house, but no injuries to the animals or crews were reportedThe fire department said the fire was first reported around 3 p.m. When crews arrived, there was a heavy fire and smoke coming from the trailer. Once crews were able to safely get the dog out of the house, the Montgomery County Ambulance crew gave him oxygen.
