ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — If President Donald Trump has his way - you could soon be paying a lot less for prescription drugs. The President Monday signed a sweeping executive order that sets a 30 day deadline for drug makers to lower their prices substantially. The U.S. Health Department if being tasked with working with the drug companies to come up with new prices. Trump says he wants people in the U.S. to be paying about the same price as people in most other countries where drug costs are much lower.

23 days and counting – that’s how late the NYS budget is as of Wednesday. Lawmakers will be back in the Senate and Assembly chambers Thursday, and at that time they will likely pass another budget extender to keep the state government running. There has been talk this week that a final budget deal is close, but still nothing official. Democratic Senator Jeremy Cooney of Rochester, who chairs the Transportation Committee says,We've got to build out our infrastructure.

New York State lawmakers return to Albany Thursday -- at which time they will either pass a budget extender or start voting on budget bills if a deal is somehow reached by then. We are being told they have a deal on one of the sticking points -- discovery reform. The budget is now more than two weeks late. There's been a call for legislation to freeze the Governor's salary when the budget is late.
