Albany, NY (WRGB) — As the NYS Assembly gets set to leave town for the year, they leave behind some unfinished business. One bill with local ties that won't be voted on is "Christopher and Deanna's Law". It's named for Christopher Stewart and Deanna Rivers, the two Shenendehowa High School students killed in a crash on the Northway in 2012. Dennis Drue is the drunk driver who crashed into their car -- he was granted parole in 2023.

A lack of road salt this winter made for a rocky road for many NYS communities, as a major salt shortage hit parts of the state in the second half of the winter. GUILDERLAND, NY (WRGB) — The Capital Region lost one of its most beloved philanthropists last year. Robert McNamara, Bobby Mac to all who knew him, passed away suddenly in May of 2024. Now, a year after his death, his many friends and colleagues are coming together to raise money in his name once more.

Albany, NY (WRGB) — If you've been anywhere near the NYS Capitol lately you can see there is a major construction project going on. The Capitol's Eastern Approach including the huge staircase, is going through a massive rehabilitation process. But there is another, unheralded project taking place at the same time on the other side of the building and You Paid For It too.

Albany, NY (WRGB) — With the NYS Legislative session winding down at the State Capitol -- there's a last minute push to get some legislation through. One of those bills carries the name of a local teenager who was hit and killed by a car on Route 7 in Niskayuna. 14 year old A.J. Smullen was hit by that car in March of 2024 -- there is now a memorial sign at the site.
