1 INTRODUCTION Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a mental disorder characterized by severe restriction of nutritional intake, fear of weight gain, and distorted body image perception, despite being significantly underweight (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). AN has extensive implications on physical and mental health, and a standardized mortality ratio of more than 5 compared to the general population (Himmerich et al., 2019), meaning developing a successful treatment is imperative.
